Box truck GPS navigation
Truck-focused navigation for movers, rental-truck drivers, and delivery operators, whether or not they hold a CDL.
A box truck is not a car
A 26-foot box truck can be significantly taller, longer, and heavier than a passenger car. Low bridges, restricted parkways, and tight turns require extra attention when planning a route.
Understanding the 26,001-pound CDL threshold
Many box trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,000 pounds or less can be operated without a CDL, depending on how the vehicle is used and applicable federal and state rules. Certain combinations, passenger operations, or hazardous-material loads can have additional requirements. Check your vehicle’s ratings and the rules that apply to your trip. Terrapin displays a reminder when an entered rig exceeds 26,000 pounds; it does not determine whether you legally need a CDL.
What Terrapin does for a box truck
- Preset dimensions for popular rental trucks, which you should verify against your vehicle’s label.
- Possible low-clearance bridge alerts based on your vehicle’s measured height.
- Searches for fuel, rest areas, truck parking, hotels, and restaurants along your route, with an adjustable detour distance.
- Fuel searches tailored to gasoline, diesel, or CNG vehicles.
- Voice search for stops farther ahead, such as “Find fuel in two hours.”
On one-way moves and long trips, the navigation overlay displays the distance to upcoming fuel stops and rest areas so you can plan without repeatedly zooming out on the map.
