Vehicle profiles
Set up a vehicle profile for your box truck, semi, or hot shot rig using the measurements that matter on the road.
Box trucks
Choose a preset profile for a popular rental box truck, then verify the measurements using your vehicle label or rental paperwork. Rental companies often publish clearance heights, which Terrapin uses as starting values. Because width and overall length may not be published, the app asks you to enter them or uses a default width of 8 feet, 6 inches. Verify all values before driving.
Semis
Save your tractor and trailer as separate vehicle components. Enter the tractor’s height, length, weight, and axle count. For the trailer, enter its height, length, loaded weight, and axle count. Terrapin uses the taller height and combines the entered lengths, weights, and axle counts for its vehicle profile.
Because a trailer overlaps part of the tractor, the combined length may be greater than the vehicle’s actual overall length. Confirm the correct overall dimensions before relying on them. Select “No trailer” when driving the tractor alone.
Hot shot
Save your pickup and trailer separately. Enter the trailer’s dimensions and weight with the cargo loaded, including the highest point of any vehicles being transported. Update the trailer profile whenever your load changes.
What the measurements do
| Measurement | How Terrapin uses it |
|---|---|
| Height | Identifies possible bridge-clearance conflicts |
| Weight | Provides vehicle-weight information to supported routing features |
| Length and width | Provides vehicle dimensions to supported routing features |
| Fuel type | Prioritizes matching fuel stations in search results |
Measure your vehicle carefully. An incorrect height can result in an inaccurate bridge warning. See how to measure your truck’s height.
