How Terrapin works

Three steps from a new install to your first trip.

  1. Enter your vehicle

Pick a preset or type in your height, length, and weight. Setup takes about a minute. You can also look up a vehicle by its VIN. More on vehicle profiles.

  2. Plan your trip

Search for a destination, add stops if you have them, and compare routes. Before you leave, you’ll see possible low clearances, work zones, traffic, weather, and stops. All features.

  3. Start driving

Follow turn-by-turn directions from Google’s navigation. Terrapin adds warnings and the stops coming up.

What the routing does today: Terrapin checks the route Google gives you for possible low-clearance bridges. It does not yet choose routes around height and weight restrictions, and Google has not approved that feature for us. Don’t assume a route is legal or safe for your vehicle. Follow posted signs, restrictions, and permit conditions.
